Welcome back, we hope you have had a wonderful Summer break, we look forward to hearing all about your adventures. We are excited for the term ahead with a packed curriculum, kicking off with our exciting topic ‘How have children’s lives changed?’, linking with text Matilda by Roald Dahl in English lessons.
Our class page on the website will keep you up to date with information, what’s happening in Class 2 and give you a feel for our fabulous children and class. Mrs Parkin will be the class teacher Monday’s, Tuesday’s and part of Wednesday afternoon and Mrs Ray, Wednesday to Friday. We also welcome back Madame Walsh on Friday afternoons, additionally Raven will be teaching Drum and Brass on a Wednesday. This year we have Mr Calway as our wonderful teaching assistant.
PE - PE will usually take place on Mondays and Wednesdays. PLease note, these days may sometimes change, so we ask that children keep their PE kits in school every day.
Spellings – Children will be taught their new spellings for the week every Thursday with spelling checks to be completed on the same day. Children have logins to Spelling Shed where they can practice their spellings both at school and home.
Reading – Children are responsible for changing their book once completed. In class we independently read every morning before lessons start and we expect the children to read at home, a mixture of shared and independent is great. To monitor reading at this age, it is vital that they/you fill in their reading diaries – this helps us keep a close track on progress. Please help with this at home, thank you.
Homework - In Class 2 our homework is focused on reading regularly at home - we have a sticker chart in class to encourage this, spellings and number facts. A spelling home book will be brought home every week for spellings to be practised in - please can they come back every Thursday. Children can also practise weekly spellings on Ed Shed and use Times Table Rock Stars / Hit the Button, to become confident and fluid with age appropriate times tables and number bonds.
Clothing - please ensure all items of clothing are clearly named. This really does help us to return missing items quickly and easily.
If you have any concerns or questions about school or your child, please contact us directly on one of the following email addresses and we will do our best to support you; leeanne@culgaith.cumbria.sch.uk and megan@culgaith.cumbria.sch.uk.
We are all looking forward to another term filled with learning and laughter,
Mrs Parkin and Mrs Ray.

Residential at Hawse End
We had a fantastic three day residential at Hawse End, jam packed with activities including orienteering, canoeing, lake walks, rock climbing, fire pit chats, and ghyll scrambling. The children were marvellous developing life skills staying away from home and making memories. We look forward to Patterdale Hall this year.
