At Culgaith C of E Primary School we have a rich PE curriculum which covers all aspects of the National Curriculum through a broad range of sports. Our aim is for our children to develop positive attitudes towards physical activities, furthering their enjoyment and engagement levels whilst supporting their understanding of the importance of this subject in their daily lives and the positive impact it can have on learning, physical and mental health.
The intent of our 2-year overview is to give the children a wide range of experiences from sailing and skiing to swimming and rugby. We believe it is important for children to understand that PE is varied and inclusive and includes a huge number of different sports and games for everyone to experience and hopefully love.
At Culgaith School we understand and promote PE as more than a lesson, we believe it is an ethos that we are delivering, whether in playtime activities and voices, after school club offers, or competitions and festivals. We promote equality of opportunity, inclusivity with appropriate support, good sporting behaviour and the strong belief that we should all celebrate achievement and encourage endeavour and resilience.
We are very proud of our multi sports festivals, which we organise alongside and with the fantastic team at Action Ants and local PE leads. We also enjoy taking part in KS1 and KS2 competitive sporting events with other schools. The personal development gained in these sessions such as being a team player, supporting others and how to take wins and losses are as important as the sports based skills supporting the children's all round development as athletes, people and members of our school community.

Girls Football Tournament
This year Culgaith hosted our first (of many) girls football tournaments. It was a was hugely successful evening with 80 girls in attendance and an abundance of cheering supporters. We are so proud to have held such an important event highlighting and promoting girls football. Who knows we could have the next England Lionesses right here, watch this space!
